On our final day, we joined part of what they call the Alaska Marine Highway (yes a real highway but in the water). This water was more open so we had a mild chop for part of the route but no problems for anyone. We docked in Sitka and had our last breakfast on the ship. We disembarked, taking a bus to the cruise line reception building. There we had some time to do some exploration or hang about charging and catching up with our outside life again before heading to the airport.
Sitka is a very pleasant small town. I wish I had taken more time to walk around and take some photos. There are a couple of small harbors and lots of little islands. The houses were all very charming. I would even recommend for those with the time either starting or ending their cruise in Sitka to perhaps stay overnight and enjoy the ambiance of this seaside village.
Alas, as with all great adventures, ours came to an end. My friends and I boarded our plane to Seattle where we then boarded separate flights to our different homes. It was good to get home, especially with such great memories of our trip together.
