I have been in Canada for over 19 years and happily enjoy being both a Canadian and a US citizen.

I spent the previous 20 years in Silicon Valley in the US, the last 5 being with Apple, of which I am still a huge fan and constantly hold my professional quality expectations to the same level that Apple holds for their products.

I finally retired from the formal workplace in 2021 after 17 years working for AMD here in Toronto (formally was ATI - computer graphics). As with many careers, the workload kept growing and growing to the point where I had no time for my own projects and travel. And it was becoming more management and less engineering.

My interests and projects are varied and many, to say the least, as you can see in the details on the right side of this page. I have had literally no time for these items (started remodeling the basement many years ago - still not done). Happily, I am slowly getting back into things. And if all goes well, after many, many years away from it, I will hopefully be getting back into software development.

My household includes two cats, Doc and Tahini. Unfortunately, over the last few years, I had lost two of my other wonderful companions, Miss Molly and Hazel, both of whom had lived a good and relatively long life. Their spirit remains with me now and forever.


The interesting thing with retirement, at least in my case, is that there is not enough time to do everything that I want to do. I am still working on self-discipline and making some progress.

This website is an example where I had to restart from scratch due to outdated web software. I am hoping to bring my many trips with photographs into it over the next several years. Of course, I continue to travel, so this will probably be a never-ending project.

I am now hopeful that some of my projects will get completed and I can find some time to enjoy them. Plus more time for hiking and backpacking - as time flies!
